Is Microsoft 365 Down?
A live reachability check of the main Microsoft 365 services, plus quick fixes for the problems we see most often. Works out whether it is Microsoft or just you.
Live check
This is a quick technical test made from Netoja’s server: it shows whether each Microsoft service is answering at all. It cannot see problems that affect only your organisation. For tenant-specific issues, admins should open the Microsoft 365 admin centre, then Health, then Service health, and everyone can use status.cloud.microsoft. Netoja is not affiliated with Microsoft.
Is it Microsoft, or is it us? Four quick tests
- Does the live check above show every service as reachable? If yes, a wide Microsoft outage is unlikely.
- Try the same thing in a private or incognito browser window, and on your phone using mobile data instead of office Wi-Fi.
- Ask a colleague on a different device. If they are fine, the problem is your device or account. If everyone is affected, tell your IT admin.
- Admins: check Service health in the Microsoft 365 admin centre. Microsoft lists active incidents for your tenant there, with updates.
What are you seeing? Quick fixes
I cannot sign in, or I am stuck in a sign-in or MFA loop
- Open a private browser window and sign in at office.com. If that works, the problem is saved sign-in data on your device.
- Check your device date and time are set automatically. Wrong time breaks sign-in and MFA codes.
- Go to mysignins.microsoft.com and check your sign-in methods are current. Remove any old phone entries and add the Authenticator app again if needed.
- On Windows, close all Office apps, open Credential Manager and remove saved entries that start with MicrosoftOffice or msteams, then sign in again.
- Admins: open the Microsoft Entra sign-in logs for the user. The error code and any Conditional Access result usually explain it directly.
Outlook keeps asking for my password or shows Disconnected
- Test at outlook.office.com. If webmail works, the account is fine and the problem is Outlook on your device.
- Make sure Work Offline is switched off (Send/Receive tab).
- Close Outlook, remove saved Office credentials in Credential Manager, then reopen and sign in.
- Run an online repair: Settings, Apps, Microsoft 365, Modify, Online Repair.
- Still broken? Create a new Outlook profile (Control Panel, Mail, Show Profiles, Add).
Email is not arriving, or my emails land in spam
- Check the Junk and Quarantine folders and your Outlook rules.
- Ask the sender to confirm the exact address, and check whether they get a bounce-back message with an error code.
- Admins: run a Message trace in the Exchange admin centre to see exactly what happened to the message.
- If your own emails are landing in spam, your domain may be missing SPF, DKIM or DMARC. Run our free Email Security Checker.
Teams has no audio or video, or will not load
- Test in a browser at teams.microsoft.com. If the web version works, the desktop app needs attention.
- Fully quit Teams (check the system tray), reopen it, and install any pending update.
- In Teams settings, check the correct microphone, speaker and camera are selected, and that Windows privacy settings allow Teams to use them.
- Try another network. Some office or guest Wi-Fi networks block call traffic.
- Still failing? Sign out, restart the device and sign back in.
OneDrive is not syncing
- Click the OneDrive cloud icon near the clock and read the message. It usually names the problem.
- Check the file names. Characters such as quotes, asterisks and question marks, or very long folder paths, block syncing.
- Check you have not run out of storage space on OneDrive or on the device.
- Pause and resume syncing, then sign out of OneDrive and sign in again.
- Last resort: use the OneDrive reset command from Microsoft documentation. It re-syncs but does not delete your cloud files.
A shared mailbox is missing in Outlook
- After permissions are granted it can take up to an hour to appear automatically.
- In Outlook on the web, right-click Folders and choose Add shared folder or mailbox.
- In desktop Outlook: File, Account Settings, double-click your account, More Settings, Advanced, Add.
- Admins: confirm Full Access permission is granted to the user in the Exchange admin centre.
Office says Unlicensed Product or Subscription not found
- Sign out of every Office app, close them, then sign in again with your work account.
- Check you are not signed in with a personal Microsoft account by mistake.
- Admins: confirm a Microsoft 365 licence is assigned to the user in the admin centre, and that they have not reached the limit of 5 installs.
